Do I need Wi-Fi for all smart home devices?
For Nest, Yes, you need strong Wifi connection. For Lutron, No, you need cable connection as the light is controlled through Smart Bridge which requires wired internet connection. With Smart Bridge, there is no interference with Wi-Fi which is a huge benefit. *3,000 sq ft + may require Clear Connect range extender.
What if there is power outage or disruption with Wi-Fi or internet connection?
When the indicator on your device is on, yet the device doesn't operate properly, it could mean that there is a disruption to your home's Wi-Fi, internet or power. In that case, Nest Cam/IQ Cam, Hello doorbell will send the users a notification but will not record during "Offline" status. For Nest Secure, Nest Guard's 12-hour backup battery can maintain basic security functions, and with cellular backup subscription users can stay informed and in control on their phone. *Once recovered from the issue, Nest devices will automatically reconnect itself using the stored network name and password.
What is Nest Aware? And do I really need it?
Nest Aware is a paid subscription service that makes your Nest camera even better with additional features and services. If you want to get the most or advanced services out of the features, we recommend to get the subscription. *Nest Aware monthly subscription is $5 for 5 days, $10 for 10 days, and $30 for 30 days.
Will my current doorbell's wires work with Nest Hello doorbell?
Nest Hello will work in most homes that already have a wired doorbell. But it is necessary to check its compatibility. If you don't already have a doorbell, you'll probably need to have a doorbell transformer and low voltage wires installed.* Electrical transformer needs to be16-24 VAC and at least 10VA.
Can smart door lock be controlled remotely?
Yes, Nest Yale lock allows you to lock and unlock from anywhere using Nest app on your mobile device, or with your voice using the Google Assistant(lock only). *Yale Lock is not designed to work with glass or sliding doors, or Mortise lock or multi-point locks.
Can gas valve be controlled with Smart switch?
No, currently in USA such device is not available.
Can I hide Nest Outdoor Cam power supply cord?
No, but you can use the cable clip to run the cable along an edge or routing it through the top to keep it out of reach. Nest IQ CAM Outdoor's cord though can be hidden from the outside to inside.
What is "Scene control"?
A "Scene" is predetermined light and shade levels. It allows you to control multiple lights and shades at the same time on the press of a button on a remote or from your smartphone with the App.
Are my bulbs compatible with Lutron smart dimmer?
Professional electricians need to check, or you can check yourself at Lutron website where they provide the Dimmer/Electronic Low-Voltage Transformer Compatibility List.
What is the warranty of smart switches?
It comes with 1 year manufacture's warranty, but ENE provides 2 year warranty if installed by us.
What is maximum number of devices Lutron smart bridge can handle?
Caseta allows up to 50 devices, RA2 Select allows up to 100 devices per each Smart Bridge.
Will smart lighting slow down Wi-Fi connection?
Unlike other smart lightings, Lutron's patented Clear Connect RF technology allows the system not to use up any Wi-Fi bandwidth or affect the general internet performance in your home.
